More graditude

Tonight Larry and I went to find some frocks for the cold winter in Denver. Yes, I typed frocks. All of these British bloggers I'm following as of late are so wickedly talented with their word weaving. Ok, back on track. We are leaving on Tuesday night for Denver and the temps will be at least 30 degrees colder. So as we're in Kohl's trying to find affordable, stylish and warm coats, Larry puts on this handsome rugged Columbia jacket. He looked at his reflection in the long mirror, turned around once and then stopped to face me, looking for my reaction. He looked sweetly at me for longer than just a moment, as if he wanted to give me a big bear hug in his soon-to-be-new jacket. His mouth crooked up to one side and he showed his teeth, which he rarely does to anyone but me. I welled up with tears. I don't know why. Feelings of deep gratitude filled me and I couldn't speak. This wonderful guy loves me, I thought to myself. He could have loved anyone, but he loves me. It was a moment that I don't think I'll forget for many years.

He got that jacket, I found a stylish soft gray one. We went on about our evening, stopping at Moe's for a burrito and then the grocery store to prepare for our trip.

Most of the time I'm too busy to notice little moments like that. It would serve me well to stop and admire them from time to time, to treat them like real gems..

So tonight, my most heartfelt gratitude to the man of my dreams and my reality.

Gratitude

I'm thrilled and overwhelmed at the responses I've received for my holiday items! I will be working feverishly to get them completed and shipped on time.

The best thing about being a newbie artist is that my mind constantly wanders to newer, bigger, better ways of making things to offer the general public. I get inspired around every turn. Several blogs have me so reeled in, that it's the first thing I read every morning. What are they doing halfway around the world? The internet is buzzing with talented and incredibly creative people. The other perk? I can email or start a conversation with people around the globe thanks to the technology the web offers.

So that's what I'm grateful for today. Technology that puts the world at my fingertips.

Craft show virgin

So my first craft show was Saturday and despite it being outside, really sunny and sloowww, Larry and I made it from 8 am to 12:30 pm without any major problems. We learned how to entertain ourselves with a book about computer coding (Larry) and a Kindle (mine). Started reading Blue Boy, seems like it'll be an interesting read.

All said, I don't think the craft show venue is my 'thing'. I can change my mind though. Since I'm a girl, that's what we do.

The Great Distractors

All artists need peace, quiet and good light in order to be productive. I have chaos, dogs, cats and lots of noise.

Just had to share my amusement today as I'm wrapping up the final details for the craft show in Jacksonville this coming weekend.

I'm referring to my two cats in the picture. They never cease to amaze me. Finding the most delicate things to investigate and eventually, destroy. Here is my light box which I use to take pictures of my shop items to sell on Etsy.com. Toby (right) believes it is his cat bed and takes daily naps inside. The once crisp white posterboard inside is now full of his long soft fur. Gracie (left) is on top of my newly stamped bags which I made for the craft show on Saturday. They were air drying in the sunlight, however they will have to be redone now. Sigh.

I think I need a private studio somewhere.

Gobble, gobble...

To solve the age old question of how to set a beautiful table for the holiday with limited fuss, I thought long and hard for ideas. What finally awoke me from a deep slumber around 2 a.m. a few weeks ago? These flexible felted acorn napkin rings.
